For more than 20 years, SMA has been developing and manufacturing sophisticated power converters and systems technology for decentralized energy supply. Today, these developments are being used mainly in solar power products (photovoltaics) and in power supply systems for railway applications.
The diverse and demanding requirements of solar and railway technology products have resulted in a broad range of technical solutions which - adjusted to the respective application - are highly suited for use in construction machinery or vehicles, as energy supply units on ships or in mining, as well as for the processing of electric power decentrally generated either for feeding the public grid or for designing an island grid supply.
These possibilities for use have already led to many interesting solutions for highly diverse applications in different projects. All have one thing in common: Due to SMA's innovative power electronics reasonable handling of the implemented energy resources is possible.
