Are Sunny Boys and Sunny Mini Centrals suitable for installation near to the coast?

Yes, since during the development of the inverters comprehensive tests are carried out.
Amongst others the housing, cover, cover seal as well as the connections components are especially loaded during the salt spray test in accordance with EN 60068-2-52 with the target of being able to install the inverters in areas with adverse environmental conditions. Amongst other things the high protection class of the inverter contributes to this.

 

This very demanding test is not a standard part of the CE examination and is carried out "voluntarily" by SMA. As a result of this test almost all inverters can be used for installation near to the coast.

 

The only exception in our product portfolio is the Sunny Boy SB 2800i. This device has been developed for use indoors and can not be installed for such purposes.
