What service features are offered by the Sunny WebBox firmware 1.46?

With the Firmware version 1.46 for the Sunny WebBox SMA offers a security update with the following additional performance features:

Password administration
For reasons of the security of your PV system you should appoint an individual secure password during the initial commissioning of the Sunny WebBox. For this you will be led automatically upon initial commissioning to the interface of the security settings (WebBox -> Settings ->Security) and receive information on the security level of the password in use upon clicking on the password entry field (see Security Settings 2_02.gif).

The degree of security is broken down into five levels (very insecure / insecure / ok / secure / very secure). In your own interest use only passwords which with help of this display are declared as being ok as a minimum. For this use the tips listed below for the generation of a secure password:

  • Use a minimum of 8 characters
  • Mix upper and lower-case letters
  • Use numbers and special characters

If you continue to use the default password a security warning appears on the web interface of the Sunny WebBox (see illustration), which is directly linked to the above mentioned security measures.

(see Security Settings 3.gif)

The use of the default password set for delivery is to be expressly avoided. Likewise no passwords should be used that are generally to be found in dictionaries.

Should you accidentally enter mistakes four times, a login is only possible again after 15 minutes. In the event of a forgotten password the resetting of the passwords is possible by pressing the reset button (1-5 seconds, available from hardware version E1 and above). For this, please read the user manual of the Sunny WebBox.
