Area: about 162 hectares, more than 700,000 PV modules with a total surface of around 500,000 m2, 37 SMA Sunny Central 1250 MV inverter stations as well as one Sunny Central 900 MV inverter station - impressive data on the currently third largest PV plant in the world, Lieberose in the very far east of Germany.
The total nominal power of the plant is almost 53 MWp. Around 35,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide are therefore saved annually. This is one of the reasons why the Lieberose plant, which was constructed on the premises of a former military training ground, was awarded official partner of the "Sustainable Europe Campaign"; by the European Commission.
»SMA and juwi have a long-lasting business relationship based on mutual trust. There are various reasons for this. Above all, the reliability and efficiency of the inverters. Characteristics which have in the meantime become well-known among the investors. With SMA as our partner, it was therefore easier to convince the investors. Moreover, we were impressed by SMA´s flexibility, especially in the Lieberose project. We could not afford even the smallest of delays when providing the inverters. This is why SMA decided to establish in a very short space of time a dedicated production line guaranteeing on-time deliveries.«
