The first of six solar PV power plants in the initial 30 MW pipeline of Symbior Solar Siam celebrated its Commercial Operations Date (COD) on Friday July 5th 2013.
Symbior Solar Siam’s power plant located in Kranuan, Khon Kaen, will provide 1,700 MWh of electricity per year to the community, using 15,000 thin-film photovoltaic (PV) modules supplied by First Solar.
“The commercial operation of the PV power plant in Nong-No, Khon Kaen, is an important step for Symbior Solar Siam toward achieving our goal of reaching 200 MW of generation capacity. Not only do we deliver electricity to Thailand’s Provincial Energy Authority but with our community outreach program for solar rooftop installations we have directly reached the lives of young students in this community. With its market leading inverter technology, SMA has been an important partner for us in the successful implementation of our PV power plant and our community outreach to promote education, innovation and the use of solar PV in the Kingdom of Thailand,” said Florian Bennhold, CEO, Symbior Solar Siam.
