Bad Hersfeld

Located in Bad Hersfeld in central Germany, the first large-scale plant with three-phase Sunny Tripower 17000 TL inverters from SMA has been connected to the grid. Since June 2010, a total of 30 inverters have been converting the direct current generated in the 7,930 modules from First Solar into grid-conforming alternating current. The roof-mounted plant has a total nominal power of around 600 kWp.

With the experience gained from a total of 17 large-scale power plant projects, PVStrom GmbH & Co. KG, based in Kirchheim in Baden-Württemberg, is responsible for the planning of the decentralized PV farm.

In the quest to find the most economical solution, the Sunny Tripower three-phase inverter from SMA proved the ideal choice, thanks to its flexible design options. The combination with modules from First Solar as the roof design promised the highest cash return for the lowest investment. Via the SMA WebBox, the plant promptly and wirelessly supplies all power parameters to the Sunny Portal, where they can be read anytime, anywhere.

»A total of four module inverter versions were checked and tested with regard to specific costs and annual rates of return in the run-up to project planning. We decided on parallel-to-roof modules with the new Sunny Tripower 17000TL string inverters from SMA. Despite all supply shortages, SMA showed the highest commitment to guaranteeing availability of the Sunny Tripower inverters. Furthermore, we were able to directly benefit from the expertise of the SMA specialists. Sunny Tripower really is a completely new device on the market. We would therefore choose SMA time after time. The entire package consisting of product, service, technical know-how and extensive project experience has definitely won us over.«
