Helping shape the energy supply of the future

For 45 years, we have been working to make energy independent, secure, and economically viable. Today, SMA is one of the world’s leading specialists in photovoltaic system technology and energy management. Around 3,500 employees in 19 countries develop solutions for a reliable and affordable energy supply.

What began as a pioneering idea has helped advance photovoltaics worldwide. SMA has contributed to making solar energy an established and cost-effective energy source today. We connect photovoltaics, storage, e-mobility, and energy management into intelligent, integrated systems. These systems reduce electricity costs. They stabilize grids—for example through grid-forming inverters and black-start capability. And they protect digital infrastructure from the outset, following the principle of “security by design.”

With over 1,600 patents, award-winning technology, and a strong global partner network, SMA is one of the industry’s innovative system providers. We are a reliable partner for companies, municipal utilities, energy providers, and both private and commercial system operators worldwide.

What started as a pioneering idea has become a globally active company. The driving force remains the same: making energy more independent, secure, and economical—through a systemic approach and practical implementation.
