With over 35 years of experience in the energy sector, John brings a comprehensive background in renewable energy operations, project finance, and corporate banking. He has a proven track record of leading high-performing teams, creating innovative solutions, and optimizing stakeholder returns while fostering a culture of accountability, fiscal discipline, and transparency. His expertise positions him well to navigate industry dynamics and contribute to SMA's commitment to sustainability and grid stability through advanced grid-forming technology.

Samuel Wiggins
Samuel Wiggins is Managing Director – Service & Technology at SMA Australia Pty Ltd, where he leads the company’s technical and service operations across utility scale solar, battery storage and hybrid energy projects.
With international experience spanning senior engineering and leadership roles at SMA and RWE in Germany, Sam has worked across utility scale wind, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and solar, covering engineering, project delivery and operations.
He is passionate about building the technical capability, systems and teams required to support resilient, high renewables power systems operating in increasingly complex grid environments. Based in Australia, Sam works closely with developers, network operators and industry stakeholders to support the next phase of the energy transition through grid supporting and advanced renewable energy solutions, with a strong focus on enabling grid integration at scale.
