Smart Home Dynamic Exports

Abstract

From July 1, 2023, the Dynamic Export (flexible) Export requirements mandates that all exporting systems (≤30kW) must have the capability to remotely update their export limits.

SMA Solution

Inverters are required to be capable of remotely updating their export limits. SMA inverters can achieve this functionality through a SMA solution via cloud or by third party hardware/software, these will also be listed on the SAPN website. For compatible devices please refer to the SAPN website.

South Australian (SA) Government Smarter Homes Regulation

For information on these requirements, please see the link here.

From December 18 2021, inverters can only be installed in SA if they are listed on the Clean Energy Council’s (CEC) Approved Inverters list. For the latest updates regarding the CEC listing of SMA inverters, please click here.

View the CEC's Inverter List here.

In SA, inverters are required to be capable of remote disconnect and reconnect. SMA inverters can achieve this functionality through an SMA solution, or by third party hardware/software which are listed on the Department for Energy and Mining "List of Relevant Agents" document.

SMA is offering an integrated technical solution at no extra cost to installers. To use the SMA solution for Remote Disconnect/Reconnect requirement, select "SA Power Networks - SMA" as the Relevant Agent in grid connection application forms. The SMA solution for remote disconnect/reconnect is only compliant if the instructions below are followed. These instructions include additional steps during commissioning, portal registration and electronic customer consent.

Dynamic Connection - CSIP-AUS (Common Smart Inverter Profile)

Abstract

Energex and Ergon Energy have chosen the IEEE Standard for Smart Energy Profile Application Protocol IEEE 2030.5 -2018, as a first protocol to enable dynamic connections. This standard enables dynamic connection for the continued uptake of DER to maximize the utilization of customer and network assets. Part of this standard is outline under CSIP which contains various requirements around autonomous functions, which is Australia are already covered by AS/NZS4777.2:2020 Inverter requirements.

SMA Solutions

To be CSIP compatible, SMA Solutions are Zeco Marshall and Catch Control.
