SMA assumes responsibility for O&M services for Ireland’s largest storage power plants

SMA has been commissioned by Hanwha Energy Corporation Ireland (HECI) to provide technical operation and maintenance (O&M) for the Lumcloon and Shannonbridge large battery-storage systems in Ireland. Equipped with SMA storage solutions and 100 MW of power each, the two largest storage power plants in this island nation help to provide the population with a stable power supply. Full scope of O&M services guarantee reliable operation. SMA currently provides technical operation and maintenance services for PV and storage power plants with a total output of more than 4.8 gigawatts and thus is one of the largest O&M providers worldwide.

“Our service package for technical operation and maintenance of the two storage power plants helps to safeguard our customer’s investment over the long term,” said Michael Plöchl, Head of Operations & Maintenance EMEA at SMA. “Thanks to the SMA Asset-Performance warranties and our comprehensive technical expertise, the battery-storage systems are in safe hands across the entire investment period. SMA already provides O&M services worldwide for PV and storage power plants with more than 4.8 gigawatts of total power and therefore is one of the top providers. Our customers benefit from a great amount of expertise, our many years of experience and local presence in all key photovoltaic markets.”

“We are delighted that we have found in SMA a highly experienced partner for technical operation and maintenance services,” said the official at Hanwha Energy Corporation Ireland. “The two battery-storage systems are key pillars for Ireland’s renewable energy supply in the future. SMA has already demonstrated in numerous projects that the company possesses the required O&M expertise to ensure a high level of availability of the large storage plants in the long term.“

Full-service offering guarantees the highest degree of system availability
SMA has delivered to the projects a total of 40 storage systems with 80 Sunny Central Storage battery inverters, a range of highly coordinated medium-voltage technology and one power plant manager to perform fleet regulation tasks. SMA’s full-service offering for the storage power plants includes not only the SMA Asset Performance warranties but also a 24-hour remote maintenance from the Monitoring Center in Ulm and Rocklin, U.S., preventive and corrective maintenance of all the power plant components, including repair services, and long-term guarantees of availability. Locally based SMA service technicians can perform a range of repairs as quickly as possible and so ensure reliable operation and maximum plant availability.
